A doctor writes…..

“Low thyroid function, and its evil hand-maiden, low adrenal function, are extraordinarily common and affect thousands of people – calculated by some authorities as high as one in four. Thyroid and adrenal insufficiency is the Cinderella of modern medicine. Although common, diagnosis is a hit and miss affair and treatment, when offered, can be insufficient and inappropriate. This extraordinary failure in medicine condemns thousands of people to chronic ill health. Medical practitioners shelter themselves behind test results, which are routinely used to claim more than they test. They refuse to listen to their patients or even credit the evidence of their own eyes, leaving their patients to remain ill for the rest of their lives. It is because of this disgraceful state of affairs that TPA-UK was founded.

TPA-UK’s medical advisers have abundant experience in breaking through the fog of misinformation in the minds of NHS medical practitioners, and can help correct the appalling situation which exists today.

TPA-UK is determined that the imprecise language used by the endocrinology specialty leading to ambiguous diagnosis should be eliminated. Hypothyroidism may refer to a deficiency in the secretion of the thyroid gland or it may refer to a general deficiency of thyroid hormones. Thyroid hormone may refer to thyroxine only, or thyroxine-related hormones, T3, T2, and T1. Because of medical practice guidelines, this fog, which violates tenets of clarity, precision, and valid consent, must be lifted so sufferers would no longer need TPA-UK’s support.

There is need to test for vital T3 levels or better usage. In particular, TPA-UK advocate the use of natural desiccated thyroid, widely used for over a century but now fallen into disfavour following the use of synthetic preparations, wrongly regarded by doctors – at the receiving end of remorseless propaganda from drug companies and medical authorities alike – as the treatment of choice.

TPA has access to a vast body of evidence, demonstrating the arrogance and ignorance which exists within current establishment thinking. Medical practice ignores and/or dismisses relevant physiology that has been known to medical science for nearly 40 years, ignores medical ethics, and ignores the human rights of patients.

This web site, the TPA-UK Information Pack and the Internet discussion forum is available to all and will help patients and doctors develop greater knowledge and understanding about the illness, will advise on reliable diagnostic tests, and recommend where to obtain proper, effective treatment.

Four in five patients think they know their condition before consulting a doctor - are you one of them?

Doctor and patientThe GP on the GMTV programme highlighted this as a dangerous occupation which in some cases could be true. However, there is another side to the story. Our stories.

Please relate your stories to GMTV.
